You've set yourself goals, you've set yourself a path, and so far, so good. You ask God to undertake and pray in earnest that He will help you achieve this. Then suddenly, "Bang!!" A curve ball! |
The golfer tries to control his swing as much as possible to bring about the final outcome that he desires from the shot. The more he can control the ball during he stroke, the more likely it is that he will be pleased with the result. |
Once you have gone that far, you don't want to admit that you are struggling and that the weight of your concerns is heavy because your heart has become hard and your pride is firmly in place. |
Reading through this passage of scripture detailing the ressurection of Jesus reminded me that God is not a God of hopelessness, but the God of Hope |
God's sovereignty |
I watched in amazement at the amount of people that were risking serious injury or death while trying to save the animal's life. I mentioned the obvious dangers posed to the rescuers to my wife, who looked over at me and calmly said; "didn't David risk his life for only one sheep?" |
A lion will often chase down the members of a herd that it senses are weak or struggling. So when a pack of lions attack a herd, they will try to separate a single animal from the relative safety of the herd. Once they get one out on its own, they pounce. |
Just now is a fine attitude to have for certain things... I'll watch TV just now. Fine, no problem. However, we need to be careful that it doesn't develop into an attitude that carries over into our Christian life or that affects our walk The Lord. |
The birth of Our Saviour seems a far easier scene to accept than the harsh, brutal and ultimately fatal truth of The Cross of Golgotha. However, we need to understand that the birth without The Cross means nothing to us. |
