Weekly Reading - Showing Me Purpose
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to
prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11
Jeremiah 29:11
As a christian we all want to do as much as possible in our service to the Lord. Sometimes this can lead to a certain amount of frustration, for example, some may feel that they have nothing to offer, feeling they are always in the background and not doing enough to serve God. We as christians need to search our own hearts in prayer and make sure that our motives are true. Sometimes we need to sit back and realise that no matter how small our part may seem, we are nevertheless still in the service of Almighty God.
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of
the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Colossians 3:17
Colossians 3:17
When we become christians we are all so zealous to do amazing things for God, and sometimes this is the way it happens, but not for everyone. God calls us each to our own purpose, the purpose He has set down for us before the beggining of time. No matter if it may be greeting people at the door at Church or even serving tea and coffee after, we should do it unto the Lord for His glory. Maybe He has called you to be the friendly and helpful nieghbour or the person that everyone goes to, to unload, whatever He has given you to do, no matter how insignificant you may find this, to Him thier is a purpose.
Its so easy for the enemy to get in thier and say to us, "Well youre not really benefitting anyone" or "Youre not very useful, why bother" which leads on to us becoming depressed and falling further away from our Saviour. What Im saying is this, nothing we do or dont do can ever ensure our Salvation. Jesus has already done this for us when He gave Himself on the cross, all He asks of us is to believe in Him and trust Him and nothing can take us from His hand. In our service to God, we need to remember this, that everything we do in service is by Him and His Holy Spirit. So no matter how small you feel your part is, no matter if you think you are not doing enough, in His eyes you are being obedient and for now wherever you find yourself, thank Him for giving you purpose and do it unto the glory of His kingdom.
Never despise the small things, for God has placed you exactly where He wants you to be at this time. Do everything in service to Him and never cease to shine your light for His glory. Take heart and remember to continue in prayer always seeking His guidance, God has a plan for your life, continue to trust in Him and never let the small things get you down.
God Bless.
