Weekly Reading - Snowed In By Sin
Matthew 11:28
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

The UK is experiencing it's whitest winter since the 'great white winter' of 1962/63. Just watch the news for a few minutes and you will see stories of all manner of effects of this. This week schools across the country have been forced to close, some businesses have had to close due to the staff being unable to attend work and there are reports of gas services being cut to some businesses in order to conserve supplies. Some of us, especially visiting Canadian's would probably be laughing at the situation. In Canada this would be considered a mild weather front to say the least. Where am I going with this? Sometimes our spiritual lives can suffer from a white winter as well. We can sometimes be snowed in and unable to connect with God. Our sins keep us away from our Saviour and we need to use the snowplough of God's forgiveness to come back into a right relationship with Him.

There are a lot of things that can take our focus from God, whether it be money problems, personal problems, all these things make us feel depressed and stressed, and immediatley our gaze has shifted from our Merciful Savior. The strange part is that if we went to Him about all our difficulties, all our struggles, there is nothing we cannot face if we would lay these burdens at His feet. Im convinced that even if there is sin that is keeping you away from Him, that sin is only going to get worse, and the gap between you and Him will grow larger. It's very hard for us to switch off to the world around us, so hard for us to come to Him again when we know we have done something wrong. The thing is He understands, because He knows us better than we know ourselves, so be reconciled to God today!

Works? Works? A man get to heaven by works? I would as soon think of climbing to the moon on a rope of sand!
